Where’s Rick?!?
Before I went to bed last night, I began thinking of all of the things that I had to do today (and yes…it’s 12:30PM and I’ve yet to accomplish many of those things).
Anyway, I suddenly remembered that I have not updated my blog in ages! I’m sure you’re just dying to know what’s going on in my world, aren’t you? Ha! That’s what I thought…
Well, I’m engaged now! Actually, I have been for a few months now. I just haven’t had a chance to fill you in on it.
My girlfriend (now fiancée), Sarah and I went up to Lake Geneva, WI one weekend back in February. I was planning on taking her ice skating on the lake. After we were done skating, on the side of the lake, there are a whole bunch of benches. I was going to pull out my laptop, show her a cool movie that I put together, get on one knee and ask her to be my wife. But no…that didn’t happen! It just had to be the coldest weekend of them all…10 degrees below zero to be exact!
We ended up going to breakfast. I was going to propose there. No way!! There were way too many people to do it there. I got chicken.
Later, we walked around some of the shops downtown. I was looking for any opportunity to ask the big question. There just wasn’t a right time. Finally, as we were getting ready to leave town, we decided to pop into a coffeehouse and get some hot chocolate. This was the coolest place ever.
It was literally a coffeehouse. It was an old, Victorian home turned into a business. We walked in and were standing in the original living room. I went into the original kitchen to order our drinks. I went back to the living room, sat with her on the couch, had a casual conversation, and later pulled out my laptop to show her this movie.
With tears in her eyes, she said yes!
Ok, let me rephrase that…with tears in MY eyes, she said yes!
Now, the planning has begun. We’ve picked out the reception hall. She’s picked out her dress as well as the dresses for her bridesmaids. I hear they’re beautiful!
Now, it’s my turn. I need to start thinking about the honeymoon. Any suggestions? I’ve heard amazing things about the US Virgin Islands as well as some destinations in Mexico.
What locations should I check out?
See you later, blogsters! I’m back!! ![]()
