I really need to vent.

My wife is an avid Whole Foods shopper.  I’m slowly coming around on the whole idea.  I mean, I grew up on foods bought at Jewel, Dominick’s, Eagle Country Market (remember them?), & HEAVEN FORBID…Aldi.  And here I am today, doing just fine!  I’ve found about a half a dozen items at Whole Foods that I can’t live without.  But I digress.  Sarah has grad classes on Thursday nights and for the past month or so, I’ve eaten dinner at Whole Foods.  $5.00 will buy you two HUGE slices of delicious pizza.  It’s nothing like Aurelio’s, my favorite pizza, but it’s good nonetheless.

Last night, I stood in line at the Gold Coast Whole Foods waiting to pay for my slices of cheese and pepperoni.  Sitting on a display near the register, I noticed a package of meat from the butcher.  Someone went to the butcher counter, ordered a pound of fresh chicken breast, put it in their cart, brought it to the checkout lane, decided that they didn’t want it anymore, and set it on the display.  Keep in mind, this chicken retails for roughly $8.00/pound.  $8.00 thrown down the drain!  All because someone changed their mind.

No, it’s not because someone changed their mind.  It’s because someone was lazy and didn’t want to walk the meat back to the butcher.  Ok, maybe they were embarrassed to hand the meat back to the worker.  In that case, couldn’t you have just at least droped the meat off at a cooler?  Did you have to leave it out in the open!?!

The point of my rant is that if people would just practice common sense, we can work together to keep prices low.  Without a doubt, stores like Whole Foods will have to cut corners in some areas if everyone did pulled stunts like this.

Careless.  Laziness.  It’s pathetic.

What’s even more pathetic is that I’m all steamed up over this.

(In case you’re wondering, my pizza was AMAZING!)  :)

My Family

Posted In: Rick's Blog by Rick Hall

Have you these stickers on the back of a minivan?  Scott & Lisa, great friends of ours, have similar figures on the back of their SUV.  When I saw them I wanted to add similar stickers to the back of my Jeep.  Sarah quickly reminded me that this point, our family consists of just the two of us.  :P

I only mention this because today while going through some pictures, I came across this sketch.  Sarah sketched this into a greeting card that she gave to me a number of years ago.  She was a trendsetter!   Sticker makers, we want our cut!

B96 Summer Bash

Posted In: Rick's Blog by Rick Hall

The B96 Summer Bash invaded Toyota Park in Bridgeview this past weekend, bringing in artists such as C-Side, DJ Flipside, TKA/K7, Natasha Bedingfield, Flo Rida, Pitbull, Cascada, Jesse McCartney, Ray J, Danity Kane, & T-Pain. Ironically, my spell check didn’t recognize half of these names. :) It has been a long time since I attended this event. In fact, it was ten years ago at the Route 66 Raceway, with Ricky Martin serving as the headlining artist.

Wow…let’s just sit here together an ponder that for a moment. In 1998, Ricky Martin was HUGE. In 2008, the chief of the show was T-Pain. All I can say is wow.

The kids…they came to Party!

The Youth of the Nation

My wife Sarah and friend Erin.

We also took video footage of some of the antics. I’ll post them here when I figure out how to upload them.

Thank you B96, for the seats. It was quite an experience. =)
